DEVELOPMENTAL COURSES
PRE-COLLEGE MATH COURSES: Courses code beginning with "0"
- Basic Arithmetic (MA 001) - 3 credits
OUTLINE
SYLLABUS
- Study of basic computational operations in arithmetic.
Topics include arithmetic operations on fractions, decimal numbers, percents and signed
numbers.
- Self Paced Basic Arithmetic (MA 001) - 3 credits. Is an
individualized approach which is designed to more adequately address the
student's learning needs and style. The student proceeds at his/her pace,
thereby eliminating traditional competition with other learners. The
traditional instructor and imposed testing dates are also eliminated. This
mode of instruction is appropriate for students who are repeating the
course, independent and self-motivated learners, and those who demonstrate
some skill in reading the English language.
- Applications of Basic Math - (MA 004) - 3 credits
OUTLINE
SYLLABUS
- Application of basic computational skills necessary to solve problems encountered in
life and work situations.
Topics include metric systems, proportions, geometry applications, graphs, exponent
rules, temperature, time and linear equations.
Students with grades "B" or better can take the one semester Algebra. Others
will have to take the two semester algebra.
- Algebra - (MA 005) - 3 credits
